During the same trip that I took for my personal project (Chinatown), I also shot my environmental project. An environmental portrait is a picture that captures the subject's face in their environment. Chinatown was a great place to shoot this because it is bustling with people working and interacting. The people I captured were all in their work place and in a spot that they spend most of their life at. For example, the Chinese showman, or the Indian flower-necklace maker--Chinatown is the main part of their lifestyle. It is different from us tourists who just visit once to pick up some cheap goods, enjoy some good food, or just soak up a different experience. Through these images I hoped to capture these Chinatown inhabitants in their natural environment and their day-to-day life.
